BENTOTA
Bentota is situated on the Northern boundary of the southern province in the district of Galle. Many fascinating rural life styles and traditional occupations may be seen in and around Benthota. These include river fishing, coir manufacturing, wood carving, gem cutting, pottery, basket weaving, and tapping of toddy ( toddy tappers moving from one coconut tree to the other through ropes can be seen daily ) Toddy is an alcoholic drink which is the fermented sap of coconut flowers.
Benthota is famous for water sport; diving wind surfing, snorkeling water skiing, boating and deep sea fishing.
ACTIVITICE
Moning – leave for Bentota beach resort. On the beach, at leisure. Overnight Bentota.
THISSAMAHARAMA
A historic city , the ancient capital of Ruhunu province, dates back to the 3rdc.B.C., rose to fame during the reign of kavan Tissa father of the heroic king Dutugemunu 2ndc B.c. builder of many Buddhist shrines including the impressive Ruwanveliseya in Anuradhapura. Located on the bank of the picturesque tissa Wewa – an artificial lake a favourite picnic spot for travelers heading towards kataragama and the yala National park. They stop to take a dip in the lake, cook , have a meal and then proceed, refreshed. Yala is about 20 k.m from Tissa and many local tour operators offer full day or half day tours to the park. A cluster of dagabas and the much venerated mahastupa adds character and the lake, serenity and peace . overall it is a pleasant city spend some time.
ACTIVITICE
Morning -leave for Tissamaharama via Galle . 17 c. Dutch fortified city. Lunch on route. Afternoon visit the yala national park. Overnight Tissamaharama.
ELLA
Ella is one of the best places to relax and enjoy the beauty of the hill country. Lots of travelers visit Ella and enjoy walk through tea plantation, water falls and villages. During the night you can see the kirinda light house from here . there are many hotels and holiday bungalows in Ella. Ellais blessed with some of the most beautiful views which you could find in sri lanka.
Some of the places you could see in Ella are the Ella Gap, Ravana Ella Falls, Little Adam’ peak and Bambaragala peak among the other many varied pleasant walk with stunning scenery.
ACTIVITICE
Morning – leave for Nuwara Eliya, via Ella superb high country scenery. Lunch AT Ella
KANDY
Historical records suggest that kandy was first established by the king wickramabahu (1357-1374) near the watapuluwa area north of the present city. And it was named senkadagalapura at the time. In 1592 kandy become the capital of the last remaining independent kingdom in sri lanka after the coastal resions had been conquered by the porthuguese. Thus the reyal place and the temple of the tooth were associated with the administrative and religious functions of the capital city.
ACTIVITICE
Morning – sightseeing in Nuwara Eliya. Visit a tea estate. Proceed to kandy, the picturesque hill capital visiting Peradeniya Botanical Gardens en route. Overnight kandy.
SRI DALADA MALIGAWA
The sri dalada maligawa or the temple of the sacred tooth relic is temple of the sacred tooth relic is a temple in the city of kandy in sri lanka . it was built within the royal place complex which houses the only surviving relic of Buddha, a tooth , which is venerated by Buddhists. The relic has played an important role in the local politics since ancient times and it’s believed that whoever holds the relic holds the governance of the country. Which caused the ancient king to protect it with great effort.
morning -visit the Dalada Maligaw. The golden roofed Temple of the sacred Tooth Relic of The Buddha. Shopping and sightseeing in kandy.Afternoon- return to Colombo visiting the Elephant orphanage at pinnawala.
